Bella is a Deputy Director at Reprieve and oversees Reprieve’s human rights advocacy.
Bella joined Reprieve from Liberty, where she served as Director of Policy and led Liberty’s policy development, advocacy and lobbying work. Prior to that Bella worked in the Legal & Constitutional Affairs Division at the Commonwealth Secretariat, coordinating Rule of Law technical assistance projects between member states. Bella joined Reprieve in May 2017.
Bella specialises in the protection of human rights in the context of national security and criminal justice policy and she regularly provides expert testimony in Parliament and the media.
Bella holds a BA from Cambridge University and a LLM from the School of Oriental & African Studies. She was called to the Bar in 2008 and is a non-practicing barrister.
