Watch Jemima Khan talk about drone attacks in Pakistan

on 09 November 2011

Jemima Khan joined Reprieve and tribal elders from Waziristan at a conference in Islamabad to open an international dialogue on the use of CIA drones in Pakistan.

The CIA refuses to acknowledge that the programme exists, although it is generally accepted that 'Predator' and 'Reaper' robotic aircraft - armed with Hellfire missiles - are remotely operated from the United States.

President Obama’s counter-terror adviser John Brennan recently claimed that there had been no civilian casualties in a year as a result of this covert action.

Yet days after the conference and this film, 16 year old Tariq Aziz, who had been present in Islamabad was killed in a drone strike, alongside his younger cousin. The two boys were alone, just 200 metres from a relative's home and there is no suggestion that either had anything to do with terrorism.
