As an Investigator on the Death Penalty team, Sophie focuses on cases in the Americas, including Reprieve’s three-year project to identify and assist all European Nationals on death row in the United States.

Sophie joined Reprieve from the Equal Justice Initiative of Alabama, where she worked as legal fellow, preparing direct appeal briefs, post conviction and federal habeas petitions for indigent prisoners on Alabama’s death row.

Prior to that, she worked as a legal intern for the Global Justice Centre in New York, where she wrote the Amicus Brief for the Iraqi High Tribunal on gender related crimes. Sophie also interned at Furnival Chambers, where she researched sexual offences laws in preparation for rape trials at the central London Criminal Court.

Sophie has an LLM in General Legal Studies from the New York University School of Law and a B.A. in Jurisprudence (Law) from Oxford University.
