Fighting for the lives of people facing the death penalty
What we do
Miserere: A festival of music and drama in aid of Reprieve at St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street, London

12.02.07

St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street, is hosting a series of classical concerts, including Allegri’s Miserere Mei and Steiner’s Crucifixion, in support of UK charity Reprieve which fights for the lives of people facing the death penalty and other human rights abuses.

The series of five concerts begins on Ash Wednesday (21 February) with Allegri’s hauntingly beautiful setting of Psalm 51, Miserere Mei, and Whyte’s Lamentation, a sublime and moving setting of the Lamentations of Jeremiah.

The concerts’ themes of suffering, redemption and hope have been specially chosen to reflect Reprieve’s essential work in exonerating prisoners whom the State seeks to put to death. They are sung by St Bride’s renowned professional choir.

The Lent series climaxes with Handel’s Messiah on Wednesday 18 April, where the St Bride’s Choir is joined by the Saraband Consort.
