Sign Petition for brain damaged British Citizen facing execution in Vietnam

26.04.07

Please sign the petition on the No. 10 Downing Street website in support of Le Manh Luong, a British citizen facing execution in Vietnam. Mr Luong suffers from a mental illness as a result of a bomb being dropped on his house during the Vietnam War causing him severe brain injury from which he has never fully recovered. Reprieve has been involved in Mr Luong’s case and are campaigning on his behalf.

Mr Luong’s final appeal to the Supreme Court in Vietnam was rejected on 6 April 2007. He is currently making an application to the Vietnamese President for clemency - this clemency application is his last chance. If this is rejected, Mr Luong faces imminent execution. Reprieve has launched this petition to call on the Prime Minister, Tony Blair, to make personal representations to the Vietnamese President to grant clemency in Mr Luong’s case.

In previous cases of Australian nationals on death row in Vietnam, their death sentences have been commuted subsequent to intervention by Australian Prime Minister John Howard speaking personally to the Vietnamese President. We fear that without Tony Blair’s personal involvement, Mr Luong’s clemency application with be rejected.

Please help Mr Luong by clicking on to the following link to sign the petition: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/SaveLuong/

Please forward this email to your family and friends asking them to sign the petition and help to save Luong’s life. The more people who sign it, the more likely it is that Tony Blair will get involved.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Kind regards
