Reprieve is delighted to announce a spectacular night of music magic, as two iconic British acts appear in Dorset for one night only on Friday 26th March.

The line-up includes national treasure Billy Bragg whose musical career has spanned over two decades; his songs notorious for their passionate political overtones. He will be joined by chart-topping dynamic duo the Proclaimers. With eight successful studio albums under their belt, the Proclaimers’ songs provided the inspiration for the highly acclaimed award-winning musical, Sunshine on the Leith.

Craig and Charlie Reid of the Proclaimers said:

"We are absolutely delighted to be alongside Billy Bragg, supporting Reprieve again through our live work. The charity does fantastic and much needed work that needs to be highlighted and supported."

These acts are coming together to show their support for Reprieve’s vital work on Death Row and in Guantánamo Bay and secret prisons around the world.

Both Billy Bragg and the Proclaimers are committed human right activists who have used their musical talents to inspire change. Now they are asking you to help Reprieve enforce change for the better for prisoners in the most desperate situations.

Reprieve’s Director Clive Stafford Smith said:

Powerful lyrics have always roused us to stand up and fight for the rights of others. I am delighted that two of the most inspiring artists of recent decades are performing in my local town of Bridport, Dorset – an important hub for human rights activity and little-known centre of the universe.”

Join us for what promises to be a unique and entertaining night.

Notes for Editors:

Reprieve, a legal action charity, uses the law to enforce the human rights of prisoners, from death row to Guantánamo Bay. Reprieve investigates, litigates and educates, working on the frontline, to provide legal support to prisoners unable to pay for it themselves. Reprieve promotes the rule of law around the world, securing each person’s right to a fair trial and saving lives. Clive Stafford Smith is the founder of Reprieve and has spent 25 years working on behalf of people facing the death penalty in the USA.

Reprieve’s current casework involves representing 33 prisoners in the US prison at Guantánamo Bay, working on behalf of prisoners facing the death penalty, and conducting ongoing investigations into the rendition and the secret detention of ‘ghost prisoners’ in the so-called ‘war on terror.’
