Special thought for Linda Carty on Veterans Day

November 11th is Veterans Day and we are proud to announce that Chuck Hobson, an honorable US veteran who fought in World War II and the Korean war, has joined our campaign to help save Linda Carty's life.

Linda Carty is a British grandmother who was convicted following a catastrophic trial in Texas. All her appeals are exhausted and she will get soon an execution date.

Chuck  Hobson enlisted in the US Navy in January 1945, did the mandatory basic training "Boot Camp" and then attended the Electronics School until the War ended in August 1945. He then opted to remain in the Navy and was subsequently transferred to Yokosuka Japan (Occupied Japan) for about 2 years. Following that, he served abroad a USN Light Cruiser (USS Worcester CL-144), doing shore bombardment in Korea, until November 1952.

He says:

I was honorably discharged from the US Navy in November 1952. The rest of my life was spent as a civilian Electronics Engineer working for and with the US Navy, the US Army and the US Air Force. I suppose the bottom line is that most of my life has been in support of the US military. I hope it will be of some help in developing your plea to the Governor of Texas.  I am very pleased to read that the effort to save Ms. Linda Carty from execution in the US State of Texas is still ongoing. God's speed!

Last June, on D day, Villagers in Horham, Suffolk recorded an unusual video request to Texas Governor Rick Perry, seeking clemency for British grandmother Linda Carty. Horham was visited by Governor Perry in 2000 and hosted US troops during WW2. Villagers enjoyed strong friendships with American GIs stationed at the military base there, which endure to this day.

Horham’s vicar and community have asked the State of Texas to reconsider Linda's death sentence.

Like Chuck Hobson and the Horham villagers and vicar, we hope that many world war veterans will join us in our plea to kindly request the US to grant clemency to Linda Carty.

Chuck has just registered in our "Sing Amazing Grace" for Linda Carty campaign. Please read about our campaign and register to help us save Linda's life. Thank you.
