My name is Nicole Baltus and I am from Germany. I was the close Friend of Mister Cary Kerr, in Texas, for nearly 3 years.
Cary was executed on May 3rd, 2011, by the State of Texas. Texas could do it, because Texas had got the lethal injection drug from your company Lundbeck.
On Wednesday April 27, 2011 I started my trip to Texas. I wanted to spend the last days and hours with my best friend Cary.
No one, not even Cary's attorneys have really thought that Cary will be executed. So we had all of the big hopes for a Stay. We all have very confident. But Texas has shown its power and executed Cary.
I am an opponent of the death penalty and so I found an ad from Cary Kerr before 3 years by an Internet pen pal request. It took a while, and then I have written Cary.
Cary has always maintained that Texas has sentenced him wrongly. He was not a murderer, he was innocent.
His last statement:
Yes, tell my sister Tracey, I love you. Nicole, thank you and I love you. Wanda and all of my friends, I love you and thank you for your support. To the State of Texas, I am an innocent man. Never trust a court-appointed attorney. I am ready Warden. Thank you, Brad, I'm sorry. Check that DNA, check Scott. Here we go. Lord Jesus, Jesus.
In the 3 years of our friendship I have studied his case thoroughly. I have all the documents of the court proceedings, police reports, witness statements, etc. DNA test here at my house. I've built up an archive.
I have read all the documents and friends have supported me
But Texas gave Cary no chance. Texas does not matter whether one is executed or not. That's my guess.
If someone committed a crime, then follow a penalty. This is not a question. But not by death!
Moreover, I will just add that the guilt of some prisoners incarcerated at the Polunky Unit in Texas is far from being clearly established.
There are also friends of Cary, there. Texas proved that they can execute with the deadly injection of the company Lundbeck at May 03, 2011. And now, Texas will also continue.
Mr. Wiinberg, I am saying this with all my heart, please stop the use of your drug for lethal injections in Texas. Please send a signal to the executions in the United States. No one should forget that innocent people could be there and could be executed.
Whether guilty or not guilty punishment, yes, but not by death. For thereby creating new victims. And no one is released alive by an execution of the murderer.
Yours faithfully
Nicole Baltus
